The
basis was formed with pigeons of the following fanciers: Kuijpers
Brothers – Neer (The Netherlands): First
there are the famous indestructible Kuijpers-pigeons from the Kuijpers
Brothers at Neer (The Netherlands). On the Kuijpers-loft Barcelona is the
leading thread running through their results. Their last Barcelona-victory
was some years ago, but the superb quality of the Kuijpers-pigeons is
worldfamous. A granddaughter (the ‘117-stock hen’) comes from the
famous ‘Gouden Stamkoppel’ (‘Golden Couple’) from Kuijpers and is
an important part in the base of the Frenken successes. The ‘Gouden
Stamkoppel’ is the foundation of the 1st ,
2nd and
3rd
national Barcelona. The Frenken Brothers based their famous
‘Turbo Line’ on these birds from the Kuijpers Brothers. Marcel
Braakhuis – Heer (The Netherlands): A
second golden acquisition came from the man with the ‘Black Murderers’,
Marcel Braakhuis from Heer near Maastricht. In the summer of 1981 they got
two couples of eggs here. The four youngsters also brought a new success
on the Weerter Lofts. Only two years later youngsters of the direct
Braakhuis-birds were placed in the first 100 of the
national longdistance races, with the 27th
national Barcelona. The fanciers among us who know these ‘Black
Murderers’, know that they have an extreme power of endurance. And this
is a must for the strong Barcelona race. The ‘Black Murderers’ have
their origin in the legendary ‘131’ of Jan de Weert from Steenbergen.
After this purchase they didn’t stop with their search for
better pigeons. Jan
Theelen – Buggenum (The Netherlands): Near
Weert lives a very good longdistance fancier, named Jan Theelen. A man who
is very good in finding good racepigeons. The Theelen-pigeons are birds
with a little more speed in their wings. An interbreed from their own
birds with the Theelens brought a lot of success. But not only on their
own loft there was success. The Belgian fancier Pros Roosen – well known
for his famous middle distance pigeons – won the famous title
‘Primus Inter Paris Barcelona’ with a direct Frenken cock from
the Theelen-line. Jan
–Straetemans Thorn (The Netherlands): The
Frenken Brothers were also very succesful on breeding with pigeons of Jan
Straetemans (Son 215)Straetemans*Saya. Ton Vorselen - Thorn (The Netherlands): for
almost twenty years they added pigeons from this loft. The stock birds
from Ton are also added from Jan Theelen and the Kuijpers Bros. Their
own stock: Over
twenty years the Frenken Brothers built their own stock. When they buy
some birds, those birds must be youngsters from the ‘best of the best’
and no others. They bring only a few birds into their own stock. They will
always be very careful to bring some new blood in their own bloodlines.
One inconsiderate moment and you are lost. Harry
Frenken: ‘When we get pigeons from other very good racing lofts, we
bring them into our own base piece by piece. And we honestly have to say
that we got pigeons by some more famous fanciers. And these are fanciers
who still are very successfull today.
But they didn’t bring the results we expected. Curiously on their
lofts our own pigeons bring good results’. The famous ‘Turbo Line’ This
is a very succesful line of good race- and stockpigeons. For instance the
‘Turbo 106’. In 1998 he won the 128th national Barcelona
against 6.290 birds and last season he won the 35th Barcelona
against 8.140 birds. To show you that he isn’t only a good racer, I have
to say that at Barcelona 1999 two sons of the ‘Turbo 106’ also
participated in the longdistance races. Both won very good prizes, while
one of them came home wounded. Also
two daughters of the ‘Turbo 106’, from the loft of Dick van den Berg
(Tuk, The Netherlands), won very nice prizes at the races from Limoges
(> 800 km). Jac
Frenken: ‘The grandfather of the ‘Turbo 106’ is a halfbrother of our
own ‘117 stock-hen’. On the mother’s side there is a coupling of
‘Catrysse x sister Turbo 2’. ‘Turbo 2’ is a son of the ‘117
stock-hen’ and won 10 prizes per 10. Six of these prizes were won at the
famous Barcelona-race. A second descendant from the ‘Turbo Line’ is
the ‘Turbo Frans’. His father is a direct van der Wegen (‘Oud
Doffertje x Lamme’) by Frans Derks coupled with a daughter of the
‘Turbo 1’. This ‘Turbo 1’ is a son of the almost famous ‘117
stock-hen’, and was for that moment coupled with the 1st
national Marseille from Keunen – Nijssen (Sevenum, The Netherlands). He
also was a bird directly from our loft! A grandson of the ‘Turbo
Frans’ won in 1999 as a yearling the 215th provincial
Bordeaux against 11.756 birds and 122st national Dax against 19.125 birds.
It wasn’t only this yearling which won good prizes, but the whole shift
had good results. The future is looking good!’So
there is another grandson of ‘Turbo Frans and he won as yearling in the
last season 2001 a 228th provincial Montauban against 4.525 competitors
and he also won the 11th national Dax against 18.323 birds.
‘Turbo 106’ en ‘Turbo Frans’ are our highlights for the next
breeding season. The future is looking good’.
